Despite the popularity of the BMW X5 M, seeing it finished in Melbourne Red Metallic on the roads is really a rare sight. It’s even more rare to see Melbourne Red Metallic X5 M being tuned by the aftermarket industry.
Now, thanks to IND Distribution and Wheels Boutique, the lovely appeal of this gorgeous color option for the X5 M can be seen from up close. The rumbling SAV looks fetching with the red exterior, whereas all the carbon fiber additions, alongside the aftermarket BBS wheels installed make it a true eye catcher.
Some builds feature a lot of aftermarket parts that sometimes overwhelm the vehicle’s design, but this one is tastefully modded, with a selection of high-quality parts.
First, the owner opted for a bit more rumble and better power delivery. The sound coming out of the quad exhaust pipes of the X5 M’s engine is underwhelming for most owners. The vehicle is powered by a 4.4 liter V8 TwinPower Turbo engine delivering 575 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque. While the engine allows the all-wheel drive BMW X5 M to accelerate from 0-62mph (0-100km/h) in 4.0 seconds, the exhaust note it produced while doing so is rather tame.
The installation of an Akrapovic Titanium exhaust system rectifies that entirely. This upgrade also results in a better throttle response, more horsepower and torque, while weighing less than the OEM exhaust system for the X5 M.
After the exhaust note and power upgrade were completed, it was time to turn to the visual mods. The owner of this vehicle chose an Akrapovic carbon fiber rear diffuser, along with a set of BBS Wheels anda Brembo GT Big Brake Kit.
While the BBS CH-R wheels look perfect on the BMW X5 M, they are the same size as the stock setup – 21×10 in the front and 21×11.5 in the rear. This allows the owner to keep the stock tires, giving more flexibility to the financial aspect of the build as well.
