Awhile back, Conan O’Brien, the host of the late night talk show “Conan”, went to Berlin. Conan does this periodically, where he goes to different countries and basically gets into shenanigans for his show. It’s always good fun, as he basically pokes fun at himself by attempting to take part in other cultures, failing in epic fashion of course. Now, the Berlin trip has come out and Conan finds himself, in between drinking massive amounts of beer, eating tons of sausage and visiting a nude beach, on the famous German Autobahn. In a BMW i8.
As he states at the beginning of the video, it’s everyone’s dream to visit the Autobahn and go insanely fast, far faster than is allowed nearly anywhere else. So Conan gets to live that dream in the incredible BMW i8 hybrid supercar. But first, a BMW factory driver does a run with Conan riding shotgun.
The banter between the two is classic Conan, as he tries to make the German man uncomfortable. While the BMW driver is pretty typically Germanic and serious, Conan is able to get him to laugh, which is fun. But then it’s Conan’s turn to drive and the BMW driver isn’t too confident.
At first, Conan ride the shoulder of the Autobahn with the hazard lights on, doing about 10 mph. This, understandably, upsets the BMW driver, who yells that trucks are passing them. After that, Conan puts his foot down and starts making his way to about the 200 km/h mark. Of course, screaming the whole way, because that’s what Conan does.
