The BMW i8 is highly popular all across the world. The combination of a powerful powertrain, futuristic looks and impressive fuel economy, make the i8 a highly coveted item in the high-performance car world.
In the BMW i8, the powertrain is a combination of a 1.5 liter three-cylinder petrol engine and electric motors, powering all four wheels. The combustion engine develops 170 kW/231 hp and drives the rear wheels of the BMW i8. Furthermore, there is a 96 kW/131 hp electric drive as well, which sends its power to the front wheels and allows an all-electric range of up to 35 kilometers (22 miles) and a top speed of 120 km/h (75 mph). The i8 will accelerate from 0-62mph (0-100km/h) in just 4.2 seconds.
With the i8, the fuel bill will clearly be one less headache in your motoring life. The vehicle comes with an EPA rated fuel economy at 76 equivalent MPG or for us Europeans, about 3.1 liters of gasoline / 100 kilometers of travel.
The i8 will do ’29 miles per gallon’ when running in pure gasoline mode – naturally, after your hooning drains the battery completely.
This particular BMW i8 comes courtesy of Prodrive Shop from Bangkok, Thailand. The tuner just slightly modded the i8, giving it a set of aftermarket wheels and lowering the vehicle as well. The wheels chosen are ADV05 M.V2 Competition Spec Series wheels.
It’s a lightweight, rigid and gorgeous looking combo, which suits the i8 perfectly. For this build, the wheels are machined in sizes of 21×9 and 21×10.5 in the front and rear, respectively. The owner chose a Matte Gunmetal finish combination, suiting the Crystal Pearl White exterior of this i8 perfectly.
Additionally, the tuner also lowered the i8. This is done thanks to a set of H&R Lowering Springs, made specifically for this vehicle. In turn, this allows a better cornering speed and improved looks. Check out the full build gallery right below.
