Probably the most anticipated car from BMW coming out this year – the BMW F90 M5 – is definitely keeping us on our toes. The full reveal is scheduled for later this year, but luckily, from time to time, we get hints about what it’s going to look like and its performance specs. The new Need For Speed Payback video game is featuring the uber-sedan and a teaser was published today, showcasing the car’s front end.
Details are still sketchy as the picture published on BMW M’s Facebook page is not perfectly clear, but we now have a better understanding of the design of the front-end. Massive air intakes to the sides and another wide grille down the middle make sure there will be plenty of oxygen making its way into the eight cylinders of the S63 engine. Furthermore, we also get to see the side gills on the front fenders, something we’ve been wondering about for quite some time, some sources claiming that’s not going to be a thing on the new M5.
Combined with the teasers launched by BMW so far, we now have almost a complete image of what the new M car will bring to the table. Over 600 HP, some 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque and all-wheel drive are all on the menu. Furthermore, the overall weight went down despite adding some serious tech to the complete package. Keeping that in mind, drag racing fans will be glad to learn that the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint will take under 3.5 seconds.
And while that’s not the main focus of any M car, we’re glad that the M5 will now be a closer match for the E63 AMG on the quarter mile. However, things might sway in favor of the BMW once tight corners are thrown into the mix, with the BMW probably being the better handler all around. We can’t tell for sure right now, but we’ll know once the car is fully revealed.
