Not long ago we met the Rolls-Royce Sweptail and officials from Goodwood claimed that working on this truly one of a kind model inspired them and made them wonder about whether more should be done in this direction. Mr. Otvos-Muller, the CEO of Rolls-Royce even said that the company is looking into ways of building one-offs more often but that a final decision is yet to be made. The Rolls-Royce Exterion Concept we’re looking at here today might precipitate things because it truly looks like it should become reality.
Created by a talented designer – Sergey Dvornytskyy – it definitely looks like something that could’ve come from the mind of Giles Taylor, head of design at Rolls-Royce with a resemblance to the Rolls-Royce Vision Next 100 creation that was signed off by him. Furthermore, the rest of the car features details that seem to be either inspired by the Sweptail or coming from the new Phantom.
Of course, this being a futuristic rendering, it does seem to imply usage of electric motors. That’s why the front Pantheon grille is blocked off and doesn’t seem to be letting a lot of air to go through. And while that bulky front end might not be the most aerodynamic we’ve ever seen the rest of the car does look like it was put through a wind tunnel to allow some precise sculpting in certain places, to cut through air as efficiently as possible.
The rear end is definitely taking a lot after the Sweptail but it also went on the offensive, with a more pronounced and aggressive bumper, if we can call it that.
As always, the rebser will be generating a lot of polarizing discussions regarding its utility but in the end, we shouldn’t forget this is a rendering, a concept, that isn’t meant to reach public roads anytime soon. Or ever.
