This Melbourne Red BMW i8 comes courtesy of Vossen Wheels and it’s a nice departure from the “safe” colors offered by BMW. The BMW i8 is a high-performance coupe that’s welcome on both the road and occasionally on the track. On the other hand, the i8 garners most of the by-passers’ attention thanks to its futuristic looks, a powerful powertrain and impressive efficiency. Developed especially for this model, the powertrain is a combination of a 1.5 liter three-cylinder petrol engine and electric motors, powering all four wheels. The combustion engine develops 170 kW/231 hp and drives the rear wheels of the BMW i8.
Furthermore, there is a 96 kW/131 hp electric drive as well, which sends its power to the front wheels and allows an all-electric range of up to 35 kilometers (22 miles) and a top speed of 120 km/h (75 mph). Thanks to this powertrain combination, the BMW i8 will accelerate from 0-62mph (0-100km/h) in just 4.2 seconds. The vehicle is capable of going all the way up to an electronically limited top speed of 155mph (250km/h).
The owner of this BMW i8 chose to give his already interesting Melbourne Red vehicle a bit more appeal. This is done thanks to a set of Vossen Forged LC-109T wheels. Unlike some other builds, the owner of this i8 chose to go with 21-inch sized wheels – compared to 22s that most builds feature. The wheels on this vehicle are sized 21×9 and 21×10 in the front and rear, respectively, and adorned with a Gloss Silver finish, complementing the red exterior of the BMW i8.
