Crossovers are definitely the hot topic in the auto industry at the moment. Benefiting from dropping gas prices and a sudden increase in popularity, the crossover segment has been on the rise for quite some time now, alongside electric vehicles. Mix these two together and you might get a successful proposition for the auto industry, one that may take the market by storm. Therefore, the recent rumors about a BMW i5 are stirring up heated debates on the internet.
Just last week we showed you some supposed leaked patent designs filed by BMW that seemed to point to the upcoming BMW i5 shaping up as a crossover model. The tall hips and roofline as well as the high ground clearance and the high green house all lead us to that conclusion. Therefore, working with the material at hand, some renderings of how the upcoming i car could shape up started surfacing online.
The latest comes from the guys over at RemcoM and it does look like it’s pretty much spot on. Following the styling of the BMW i3 and i8 models, it uses all the trademark i sub-brand cues to convince us this is how the BMW i5 could look like. The front kidney grilles are made up of a compact block with i blue accents around them while the headlights and front bumper seem to be variations of the ones used on the i8.
Round the back the same story applies, with the same taillights being used as well as the rear bumper. The green house, on the other hand, seems to be taking after the i3, with a tall design and flowing curves on the C-Pillar. Overall, we like what we see and it does feel like it’s part of the i family, something BMW will definitely be looking to infuse into its new car.
